Last December I was invited to direct a group of remarkable student actors during a 48 film festival that was put on by ASM performing arts. During a three day weekend we were asked to conceptualize, shoot and edit a short film and amazingly enough we ended up with a hilarious film called DAWN OF THE JOHN (above). Our close friend Zachary Finkelstein and his talented wife Kalli Anderson have recently been touring the festival circuit with their film STEPHANIAN. Since film school, Dan and I have relished at the opportunity to collaborate with Zach on his frequently unconventional projects but Stephanian was our first time working with the powerhouse that is Kalli. We had the great luck of shooting film for this touching portrait and I certainly learned a lot about human interaction while watching Zach and Kalli connect with the two subjects of their wonderful documentary. This past summer I had the great pleasure of working as a cam operator & sound recordist on a great doc about the Portuguese art of AZULEJO. With fellow filmmakers LUIS DE MOURA SOBRAL & ANDREW LIMA I had the honour of documenting this incredible art form which dates as far back as the 15th century.
